Beechwood Village Mayoral Election

Hello, I’m Brian Figus, and I’m proud to be a candidate  for Mayor of Beechwood Village.

My family and I moved to the Louisville area in 2020, and I made Beechwood Village my home in early 2023. It didn’t take long for me to see what makes our city special: neighbors who look out for one another, residents who stay engaged, and a strong sense of community that makes Beechwood Village such a wonderful place to live.

Professionally, I work as a Senior Account Administrator at Computershare, where I manage complex financial transactions and collaborate with teams across the globe. Through that experience, I’ve learned the importance of accountability, problem-solving, and bringing people together to achieve results.

Over the past two years, I have had the privilege of serving on the Beechwood Village City Council. As a member of the Beautification & Infrastructure Committee and the Communications & IT Committee, I’ve worked with fellow council members and residents to support initiatives that strengthen our city. I also helped establish a partnership with Louisville Grows that brought 18 free trees to Beechwood Village residents, helping promote sustainability and neighborhood beautification.

Service has always been important to me. As an adoptive parent and volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentuckiana, I’ve seen firsthand how strong families, caring mentors, and connected communities can make a lasting difference. I also serve as Co-Chair of Computershare’s Healthy Minds PLUS Employee Resource Group, helping provide strategic leadership for an international program that supports hundreds of employees worldwide.

I am running for Mayor because I believe Beechwood Village’s best days are ahead of us. I will continue listening to residents, leading with integrity, and working to keep our city safe, welcoming, fiscally responsible, and responsive. I would be honored to earn your support.

Beechwood Village Council Member Election

Hello, I’m Charles Schaffer (Charlie)

Candidate for Beechwood Village City Council

Charlie Schaffer is a Certified Public Accountant and finance leader who recently made Beechwood Village home. He moved to Louisville in 2020 to be closer to family and settled in Beechwood Village in August 2025 — the same year he and his wife married. At 35, Charlie and his wife are raising their young family in the community they now call home.

Professionally, Charlie focuses on providing financial expertise to entrepreneurs and boards. He currently serves as Controller at a Louisville-based family office, where he oversees budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting across multiple operating companies, including one of the region’s largest car wash chains. He would bring that same disciplined, transparent approach to stewarding the City’s budget and resources.

Prior to Louisville, Charlie lived in Chicago, IL for a decade. He grew up in Lexington, KY, and attended Loyola University Chicago, where he competed for the Loyola Men’s Golf team as a scholarship athlete while obtaining his undergraduate degree in accounting and finance. He remains active in its golf alumni group. Go Ramblers!

Charlie is running for City Council to give back to the community and to ensure Beechwood Village is governed responsibly, spends taxpayer dollars wisely, and remains a welcoming, well-run place to live. If elected, Charlie would lead on transparency — starting with timely, publicly posted Council minutes so residents can easily follow the city’s business; bring a CPA’s discipline to a clear, accountable budget that treats every taxpayer dollar with care; and prioritize neighborhood safety on the city’s residential streets.
